Great review Jason. I picked one up a few weeks ago and love it. I use it as you suggested, with my Hotspot and with the local repeater (70 cms of course). It works great. Terrific receive audio, easy to program and in my opinion, hard to beat for the price. And if you go to look at the Hardware/Firmware on the radio, it even states "AnyTone". 73, George K2WO

I wonder if the power output is really 10 watts.

Jason thank you so much for all you do! I really enjoy your videos. I've learned a lot from them. God bless.

Another informative video Jason, I've had this radio for three months and use the anytone codeplugs with no problems. Also able to hit distant repeaters easily.

As always a nice review. I tried DMR several years ago, and maybe it was me, but just didn't care for it. Maybe I will try it again. 73

I bought these for my business use. We have a license for several UHF freqs and these are perfect. We don’t need VHF, APRS, etc. We do need the AES256 which it includes. This is essentially the poor man’s version of the Moto XPR UHF, but with easy access to encryption and CPS. And we get 10W max over the D878’s 6W turbo in UHF. All of this for less than half the cost.

Not game for a DMR rig right now. But will give it a look on your vid..

Need to mention if Rig A uses Rig B batteries. That might help somebody pull the trigger.

I love the 878UII plus, it works great! Get it if you can afford it! BTW DMR is not that complicated. Great video, brother!

I’m just using mine as a police and EMS scanner. I programmed a bunch of channels in thus far using just the keypad. I do not talk on it, I have no ham lic. My town police switched to DMR

TL;DR- Does anyone know how to enable the "key tone" - like, when you press the key to talk, you get a feedback type beep to say, you know, "clear to talk" ? (because now its just silent) I have this radio programmed DMR its great etc, i just dont know how to enable and it would be nice to know that "yes you can talk"

Have the GD77. Seems like this one has way better firmware, tho I did the opengd77 upgrade. But this competes more with the Anytone 878.

Can you have digital & analog frequencies in the same zone to be able to scan?
