Centennial College: Medical Laboratory Technician

The Medical Laboratory Technician program is a collaborative program taught by Centennial’s School of Community and Health Studies and School of Engineering Technology and Applied Science, with representatives from hospitals, private laboratories and the Ministry of Health. The theoretical, practical and clinical portions of this program are completed within a year, making it an ideal choice for those who wish to quickly enter the workforce. Students of the Medical Laboratory Technician program develop professionalism, as well as excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills that prepare them to be an integral member of the health care team. Students will also become proficient in the use of basic laboratory equipment, knowledgeable in general medical terminology and government acts and regulations for medical technicians/assistants. Finally, at the end of the program, six weeks of clinical placement provides experience in a real work environment.
