The uterus is an extraperitoneal hollow, thick-walled, muscular organ of the female reproductive tract that lies in the lesser pelvis.
The mean dimensions of the normal uterus in women of childbearing age are approximately 8 cm long, 4 cm high, and 5 cm wide, with the multiparous uterus being larger than the nulliparous uterus by as much as 1 cm in each dimension
