The best part of this video is how at the end of every trick the owner just shoves food into view from nowhere, like a mouse God descending from heaven

Not only is this cool, but training mice to do tricks actually makes them happier (their mind & body is stimulated), instead of just wondering in a cage all day. :) Even with a exercise wheel and rat toys, activities like these are the best for mice/rats :) You're a awesome owner!

I love their strong character and their self-esteem. Quite fascinating for such a small creature.

It's a shame how many people don't realise how smart mice and rats are. I've owned many rats over the years and they were just like little dogs.

I love how the mouse at the end pays for his food that was adorable 😂

Anyone who invests this much time and love into training mice, must be a very special human being. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video 😊

They are very intelligent, e.g. they can learn by observing and they can generalize extremely well, e.g. I did not teach the mouse the 4-in-a-row-trick! She could already play basketball and understood the connection between ball-hoop and coin/blue thing. They still suprise me every day.

My first thought when I saw the ring trick was having a mouse be the one to bring you the ring in a wedding XD

If anyone is keeping a small animal/bird in a cage or similar confined environment, please remember that you are entirely responsible for the whole life/hopes/welfare of that little one. Most of these kinds of animals are very conscious and aware of their predicament, but also they have loyalty and gratitude for being fed/loved. Please show your little friend caring attention, & be sure to let him/her/them out regularly, to see the sky and nature too. On their behalf, a very sincere "PLEASE!" :)

I found that every mouse I've encountered to be a small, gentle little thing wanting to do no harm. Shame that society has labeled these intelligent and adorable creatures as harmful beings when they aren't. They're a hell of a lot nicer than some dogs I've met.

7 years later, still one of the best videos on the internet.

Adorable. I had pet mice years ago, one of them loved to hang out in my sweatshirt pocket as I walked around. You’d see a little mouse head sticking out. She was pretty cute.

Love your mice! I'm primarily a professional fish trainer, but I have also worked with rodents. They are marvelous animals. So glad to see you popularizing operant conditioning with mice! Great work.

Hi! There is no limit except their short livespan. The reason why you see different mice performing tricks is that I have more than 20 of them and want to give as many as possible the chance to learn, not just focus on one. But of course you can teach one mouse as many tricks as you want. And it totally depends on the trick and on the mouse how long it takes - from a few minutes to a few weeks.

So neat to see how smart the lil mice are <3

So cute and dear! They are so smart and earnest and family-oriented when they know they are safe. Velvety precious companions.

The day my dad died, my mouse lay down on my shoulder and she stayed all day.

They can sense things. Rodents. They will protectively flank one that is ill.

Sometimes special treats, sometimes a mixture of treats and normal food and sometimes normal food alone. It depends on how motivated the mouse is and on how difficult the trick is for her.
