Legendary RX-7 GT300 of Gran Turismo fame 🔥

A true Legend for all Gran Turismo players and JDM Racing scene, it´s the RE-Amemyia Mazda RX-7 GT300, and thanks to Aidan Barrett it was possible to see this Rotary Monster attacking an Hillclimb, in this case on the timed event of Leafoot Festival in New Zealand.

Rebuilt to its year 2000 specification, it is powered by a peripherally ported 20b (3 Rotor) Engine in naturally aspirated form, limited to 300Hp but delivering a tremendous soundtrack. It uses a Hewland 6-speed Dog box, RE Amemiya twin-plate clutch and MazdaSpeed LSD to transfer the power to the Rear Wheels along with a lot of RE-Amemiya goodies that would make any JDM aficcionado drool..

Had the privilege of watching and listening to this car live. Oh man even with all the GTRs Supras and NSXs, the lone high pitched RX7 was still a stand out.

The JGTC for the first time ever did a race outside Japan in 2000 or 2001 and came to Malaysia. A local company partnered/bought the RX7 for that race and had their sponsorship on the car, but the no7 and many of the livery was still there. After a couple of years, that very car was put up for sale for that time less than $200k. I just hope the person who bought it brought it to such events to give as many others the same eargasm we are having

Those really are such sexy cars. I remember when they came out and I was just in LOVE with the lines and design of them. Not a huge Wankel/Rotary fan (although I do love the concept and engineering I just prefer a V8 or an I5/I6 for enginw note and power delivery.

I don't know why I prefer the 3 rotor over the 2 rotor or even the 4 rotor... It's like the perfect middle ground of insane and civilized, well except for this contraption...
