This song always brings me to tears, I It's too late for us as adults to smooth out the rugged patches in life. We also had a chance to make an impact, but as soon as we realized that it was on us to put in the work, it was too late, but it is on us to still guide our little ones into a more prosperous future, or they'll only be a repeat of us. Another top quality track from the excellent 1971 album pieces Of A Man, the mix of modes is mindblowing on this album, Gil's poetry along with his warm sensibiity for Jazz, Gil was unique, he was doing what no one else was doing at the time back in 1971, he was way ahead of the game
