Yesterday I watched a video on TikTok where an American woman in a bar was explaining very politely to an obnoxiously persistent New Yorker (I think) that she's not obliged to be nice to him and doesn't owe him a conversation, and guys in the comments were still calling her rude, or worse.

I was in croatia last year, woman was not rude but if you try to pick up on the street probably they gonna ignore you, the best places to get to know are bars, events or nightclubs…

I am a proud Croatian 🇭🇷 woman, and if I would stop and explain myself to every guy that thinks that I’m obligated to listen to his opinions on my outside I would never get on time to my work nor accomplish anything. Thank You for all the amazing compliments but life is not about- please approach me and take my time and I have to always be kind and friendly. Which I am. But please be aware that so many times I was open and friendly and then after few months pf hanging out as a team and a group - the guy eventually confirms that the only goal was to pick me up. He was not interested in „ONLY FRIENDSHIP” with me. For us Croatians friendship in not that irrelevant. And it lasts way longer than many many relationships…..

I'm from Split but live the majority of the year in Canada and i can confirm that this is somewhat accurate. Croats are very social but only to the people they know. And are very cautious with foreigners.
