Chinese Empire in America in the 1400s

Показать описание
That of the American discovery is a topic that always attracts a lot of interest. In one case, the research could show that Columbus was not the first "foreigner" to arrive on the American continent, confirming an effective Viking presence on the American continent centuries before the Italian explorer.
In the recent years there has been a lot of fantasies about a hypothetical discovery of America by the Chinese people way before Europeans.
We have witnessed a kind of historical speculation on this subject, resulting from the claims of a writer, a former British retired naval officer who has published several books on the subject.
His name was Gavin Menzies, and he suggested that the most famous navigator of the Chinese empire, the Admiral Zheng He, who lived at the time of the Ming emperor Yongle, would have reached the American coasts by the early 15th century.
Between 1405 and 1433, Zheng He commanded the fleets of the Chinese empire on seven voyages to the coasts and islands of Indochina and the Indian Ocean, during which he reached destinations never before touched by the Chinese imperial authorities, such as the ports of Arabia and East Africa.
But the real question is, did Zheng He go beyond the African continent, rounding the Cape of Good Hope in the opposite direction for the first time, heading to America? And if not, why has this kind of hypothesis or bizarre been suggested?
Let's try to answer these questions in this video.
