Look, the idea of democracy is all about people's will. I'm sure the Turkish people knew him better than all of us, therefore if they had chosen the path of what the westerners called "authoritarian", then it's actually very democratic because everyone had a vote and the majority chose him. On the other hand, if other countries intervene and place an American-style democratic government in charge of Turkey, that will be authoritarian because it went against the wills of people.
