I may not be a Mormon... but I feel the devotion in this hymn... It makes me tear up every time, and I consider it part of my personal requiem, my personal penitential hymn... the most beautiful non-Catholic hymn in my book, and it always lulls me to this beautiful place of rest and respite- I feel the love of God, and feel almost as though the Father is here to tend to my aching wounds spiritual and physical. I feel the Savior’s mercy... I feel the Holy Spirit relighting the fire in my heart. If the Heavenly Mother indeed exists, then I feel her too.

I first converted to the LDS faith back in the early 1970's. I had just gotten a divorce. And I then met the man who would be my husband after my baptism. We were married then a year later we, and our son were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Unfortunately, about 9 years later he fell away from the church and God's gospel. I continued to go to church, with my two children, pay my tithes, and attended the Manti temple every few weeks, despite my husband having denied the Gospel. After 25 years of marriage, he divorced me. I have refused his asking me for a temple divorce. He remarried a woman he knew from High School. I am not perfect, I have been inactive off and on through the years. But the one thing that sustains me is I Know this is the True church. I now live in Southwestern Carolina the Appalachian's. I know God and His Son, Jesus Christ, love me and all my family. I am almost 70 years old and I know when I leave this plain, I can't wait to see my Savior and Our Heavenly Father, and the rest of my family. This song always makes me cry, with joy and the peace I feel from its words. I know He loves all of us. And I love all my brothers and sisters in this world. I thank Our Heavenly Father for the blessings He has given me, and watched over me. Amen.

Opening hymn at my dad's service, he was buried in his Temple clothes, his death got me going to church. I didn't believe in organized churches, however I always knew of God and Jesus, but the church treated me like I had been a member for years and that drew me to it, how they treat each other. I bear this testimony in the name of Jesus, AMEN!

Since my beautiful wife of nearly 56 years passed, I sing this song most nights before I sleep. Thank God, or father for his comfort. He is really in the heavens watching over us.

My parents sang in the Tabernacle Choir in the 1950s. In those days the choir had assigned seats. I sang in the choir in 50 years later and they moved our assigned seats around month to month. To my great delight, shortly after joining the choir, I was assigned the very chair my father always sat in and on Father's Day we sang "O My Father" that day. This was one of heaven's sublime mercies as my father had been gone a few years earlier. And on the cover on the music was a picture of the choir in the 1950s... my dad sitting in the chair I now was assigned for this exceptional day!

When my grandmother was 12 years old, her mother sent her into town on an errand. She saw two well-dressed young men standing on a street corner of her hometown of Buchanan, GA singing this hymn. It touched her heart and she went home singing it. Her mother interrogated her over where she had learned it. She told her about the men. Her mother told her that they were LDS missionaries and to go back and fetch them. The missionaries had been taken out of the area due to mob violence and her family had attended another church in the interim. It was her favorite hymn for the rest of her life and was sung at her funeral.

Thank you for this wonderful hymn. Oh My Father, I've A Mother There - Brothers and Sisters Too. Love you all. I am an 85 widower and about to see them all. I once left my mortal body and I know that I am an eternal spirit and that this Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Restored Church of Jesus Christ. I am also a former Baptist minister and the Holy Spirit led me to read the Book of Mormon 53 years ago and I know it is all True. I also witnessed Israel becoming a Nation in 1948 as I was 9 years of age and heard it on my shortwave radio. Wow, I witnessed a miracle that seemed impossible. Thank you all.

My favorite song. . This songs revelation about a loving mother there makes me long for her embrace too, "when I've completed all He sent me here to do ". My wife to is on the other side and I also look forward to her embrace again too.

I turn to this Hymn whenever I need to remember, during when times are most darkest, that there's a purpose, a plan, and most importantly, a loving and merciful God who is our Father in Heaven, and a Savior who makes it possible to make it back to Him.

J'ai toujours ressenti l'immense profondeur des membres des Saints des derniers jours.
Leurs chœurs sont sensationnels et égalent les meilleurs chœurs professionnels.
J'aime prier avec leurs chants.

This is one of my favorite hymns. The day (hopefully far away) im buried i want this at my funeral. In Swedish, since im Swedish.
Both me and my mother love this hymn, especially verse 3 and 4. We love that it mentions both our Heavenly Parents, not only Heavenly Father. When i hear the hymn i can allmost se Them stand at the gate of Heaven, eagerly waiting. Last sunday i actually drew a picture of that, but i didn’t give our Heavenly Parents faces or other bodily characteristics, i drew only the contours of them close to each other at a gate, shining with rays of light. My mother loved the picture instantly, so she had put it on the table beside the sofa where she sleeps.

My favorite song from my youth! This song lifts my spirit and helps me feel the Holy Ghost testifying to me that we have a Heavenly Father and Mother. And if do all we can to obey the commandments we can return to Heaven to be in Their presence.

1. O my Father, thou that dwellest
In the high and glorious place,
When shall I regain thy presence
And again behold thy face?
In thy holy habitation,
Did my spirit once reside?
In my first primeval childhood
Was I nurtured near thy side?

2. For a wise and glorious purpose
Thou hast placed me here on earth
And withheld the recollection
Of my former friends and birth;
Yet ofttimes a secret something
Whispered, "You're a stranger here, "
And I felt that I had wandered
From a more exalted sphere.

3. I had learned to call thee Father,
Thru thy Spirit from on high,
But, until the key of knowledge
Was restored, I knew not why.
In the heav'ns are parents single?
No, the thought makes reason stare!
Truth is reason; truth eternal
Tells me I've a mother there.

4. When I leave this frail existence,
When I lay this mortal by,
Father, Mother, may I meet you
In your royal courts on high?
Then, at length, when I've completed
All you sent me forth to do,
With your mutual approbation
Let me come and dwell with you.
