The European Union and China are working to cool simmering trade tensions. The two sides have agreed to continue negotiations to settle the dispute over proposed higher tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, with EU member states expected to vote in the coming days. The bloc has also called for consultations before the World Trade Organization after China launched its own anti-subsidy probe over European dairy exports. CNA’s William Denselow reports from Brussels.

When EU can't beat China in EV, implement tariff just like the US. China should just implement tariff to EU and the US.

Is Overcapacity a new term for incompetent in economics?

I hope they reach a win-win solution. If EU mounts the tariff against Chinese EVs, German car import to China will suffer badly, which could lead to speedier deindustrialization in Europe while their EV industry is not yet gaining pace.

does not matter. China will ban the overcapacitied BMW, Benz, etc as a countermeasure. let us see who is competitive in the neural market, e.g. Southeast Asia, Middle east, south America, Africa.

2024-9-27, China's Chery Automobile postpones plan to produce electric cars in Spain due to EU tariffs .
Chery now plans to produce its flagship model Omoda 5 in Spain from October 2025. Chery is assessing how EU tariffs will affect the company's plans to import semi-finished products into Spain for final assembly.

Spain hopes Chery can bring back the more than 1, 000 jobs lost when Nissan closed its Barcelona plant earlier.

The EU and NA and AU should nationalize all natural resources. They export everything to China for processing and see the result.

This is the ultimate rivalry among two trade adversaries.. there can be only ONE remaining standing . i.e. PRChina dominates the entire World's manufacturing of all types of e-Vehicles or be replaced by others, EU / USA, Japan and India. It would be difficult for either one to concede ... as tens of millions of jobs are stake on each side.

To normalize relationships with the EU 🇪🇺, China needs to:
- cancel the "No Limits" agreement with Russia,
- stop undermining EU sanctions against Russia,
- talk with Taiwan president-elect Lai Ching-te on an equal basis,
- open independently a study into Wuhan pandemic,
*- stop atrocity of Tibetans and Uyghurs, *
- obey the Hague Tribunal 2016's decision on the SCS,
- Leave European intellectual properties alone, and
*- stop unfair overcapacity exports to EU.*
