A little explanation of why Hans was so far from the throne:
It probably works the same as the current British monarchy. The first child of the current king or queen will receive the crown. This means that the crown does not go to the next sibling but will instead go to the child of the first born. So you could be the second born and never even touch the crown.

Depending on what you view as canon, we have some info on his brothers.
Once Upon A Time: Two of his brothers are named Franz and Jurgen.
A Frozen Heart: Oldest is named Caleb. Third oldest is named Lars. Two twins named Rudi and Runo.

Ok despite similarities in appearance there are some inconsistencies in this theory. Hans wanted the crown *figuratively* (as in he basically wanted to take over Arendelle), the two brothers wanted to *literally* steal a crown and possibly sell it to become rich. There's also the fact that the brothers are thieves and Hans is a straight-up prince.

And if anyone has noticed, in Frozen 2 when elsa found out about the enchanted forest and Arendelles past, Hans grandfather is Anna and Elsa's grand father! Hans was hungry for power just like him, and he looks just like Hans.
Their (Anna and Elsa's) Grandfather built the dam because he was trying to keep magic out of Arendelle. Hans, once he found out about Elsas powers, was truing to kill her in the first one.

How did two princes become common thieves? Also the Stabbington brothers wanted Rapunzel's crown for its monetary value. Hans wanted to be king of Arendell. Basically, this is the most debunkable Disney theory that the internet has come up with, is what I'm saying.

Honestly seeing how Hans was willing to kill for the crown, it would seem to make sense that the two thieves would be related to him as they would have been taken out of the will or heir to the throne by their family for whatever reason.
