Heian Nidan (SLOW) - Shotokan Karate Kata JKA

Henrik Oesten Sensei 5th Dan from Denmark, performing Heian Nidan (Slow) in the style of Funakoshi Sensei.

It shows great courage to put up a kata performed in slow motion. This does show the flaws that are normally hidden by speed. On the upside, you can see the order the moves are meant to go and the camera work is excellent.

I'm at my first year of Karate and I think my Kata is at least as good as his. Sorry, but trying to understand how did he get a black belt. What I am seeing here is no more than blue belt degree.

Damn this is wrong .. How did he achieved that blackbelt with that performance for an easy level kata i wonder how he perform the advace kata ..damn forms are so weak hands in the wrong places stances were wrong wtf your karate organizations destroys the tradition for money .

I tend to just move along and say nothing, but for those poor souls looking for learning material, I have no choice but to make this note. In this video, there is no expansion and contraction. No proper hip rotation or vibration. Stances are too narrow. Connection is barely fair; far from what is expected of any Dan level. He does not look before moving and most of all, there is no Kime.
