Let's transform energy -- by leaving natural gas in the ground: Jonathan Deal at TEDxStellenbosch

In response to T. Boone Pickens' TED Talk, "Let's tranform energy -- with natural gas", Jonathan Deal questions the promotion of natural gas and shale gas mining as a viable solution to future energy security. He presents the harsh truths of climate change that lay ahead, and the numbers that would make pursuing natural gas simply stupid. With South Africa's fragile Karoo at the brink of being fracked for natural gas, Jonathan calls for citizens to ask their own questions and act on them, as he has.

Karoo author, accomplished photographer and freelance journalist, Jonathan has, in his efforts to prevent an ill-considered rush to mine shale gas in South Africa, evolved into a passionate and tireless environmentalist as chair of environmental NGO Treasure Karoo Action Group. Under his leadership, TKAG has established a position as the official opposition to fracking in South Africa, and was recently recognized by Mail & Guardian as the winner of the NPO category in the newspaper's 'Greening the Future' Awards.

Earth energy should be temporary until technological developments, opens the door to clean energies.
But we know we cannot continue, with the status quo. The diversification of energy, will all for savings, on an economic level as well as the reduction of pollution, will we continue to unlock new technologies.

How about stopping overpopulation, and replace corporate monoculture that uses pesticides, and chemical fertilizers, with permaculture and polyculture.
