Isle of Wight Festival organiser: 'We've got to open up sometime'

Isle of Wight Festival organiser John Giddings has been told it’s not possible to insure any events this summer.

“We’ve got to open up sometime," he says, "You can still have 20,000 Scottish supporters in Leicester Square drinking and dancing, but you can’t dance at a wedding.”

We never hear how bad these cases are. I can accept that some are quite serious, but how many are not? I hardly think a few thousand people with a nasty cough and/or a sore throat is a national emergency, especially as the likelihood of death is so much reduced.
