The Wexford Carol, the oldest Irish Christmas song still sung today, opens with the welcoming words, “Good people, all this Christmas time”. The lyrics date back to the twelfth century, the beautiful haunting melody is believed to be much older. Celebrate Christmases old and new at this joyous event, featuring cellist Patrick Dexter and Faye O’Rourke, lead singer and songwriter with creative alt-pop band Soda Blonde. During lockdown, the videos globally-renowned cellist Patrick Dexter posted of himself practicing the cello outside his rural cottage racked up millions of views as people found comfort and hope in his music and the beautiful remote Mayo setting. His highly-anticipated debut album Solace is out in 2022. Small Talk, Faye O’Rourke’s artful and charismatic debut with Soda Blonde, was released to widespread critical acclaim earlier this year.
Faye is an award-winning singer-songwriter with over ten years experience working in various capacities including singing, songwriting, performing, arranging, composing and producing. She is formerly a member of internationally acclaimed Irish Band ‘Little Green Cars’, currently the lead singer and songwriter for the critically acclaimed alt-pop band ‘Soda Blonde’ and a member of the group ‘Irish Women in Harmony’, which was at number 1 in the Irish charts in 2020. She has also begun composing for screen, with her latest composition featuring in the Oscar longlisted short ‘En Encounter’ by director Kelly Campbell.
