O Ναός της (Αθηνάς) Αφαίας βρίσκεται στην Αίγινα, στο ιερό αφιερωμένο στην ομώνυμη θεότητα. Βρίσκεται σε ύψος 160 μέτρων στην ανατολική πλευρά του νησιού. Το ιερό επίσης βρίσκεται 29 περίπου χιλιόμετρα νοτιοδυτικά της Ακρόπολης των Αθηνών.
Ο ναός που σώζεται σήμερα χρονολογείται γύρω στο 500-490 π.Χ.: είναι ο δεύτερος, καθώς ο πρωιμότερος δωρικός χρονολογείται στο 570-560 π.Χ. και καταστράφηκε από πυρκαγιά γύρω στο 510 π.Χ. Βαθμιαία το ιερό της Αφαίας παρήκμασε μετά και την αθηναϊκή κυριαρχία στην Αίγινα και μόνο κάποιες επισκευές έγιναν τον 4ο αι. π.Χ. Μέχρι το τέλος του 2ου αιώνα είχε πια εγκαταλειφθεί. Ο ναός θεωρείται ως κορυφαία δημιουργία της αρχαϊκής αρχιτεκτονικής και πιστεύεται ότι αποτέλεσε το ναό πρότυπο για τους αρχιτέκτονες του Παρθενώνα, Ικτίνο και Καλλικράτη.

Ο ναός είναι δωρικός περίπτερος, με 12 μονολιθικούς κίονες(εκτός από τρεις που έχουν σπόνδυλους) στις μακρές και 6 στις στενές πλευρές. Στηρίζεται σε κρηπίδα τριών βαθμίδων, έχει πρόδομο και οπισθόδομο με δύο κίονες εν παραστάσι και σηκό που χωρίζεται σε τρία κλίτη που σχηματίζονται με δύο δίτονες κιονοστοιχίες. Η είσοδος βρισκόταν στην ανατολική πλευρά. Η στέγη του ναού είχε κάλυψη από πήλινη κεράμωση κορινθιακού τύπου. Οι διαστάσεις του ναού στο στυλοβάτη είναι 13,77 επί 28,81 μ. και είναι κατασκευασμένος από τοπικό πωρόλιθο.

The Temple of (Athena) Aphaia is located in Aegina, in the sanctuary dedicated to the homonymous deity. It is located at a height of 160 meters on the east side of the island. The sanctuary is also located about 29 kilometers southwest of the Acropolis of Athens.
The temple that survives today dates to around 500-490 BC: it is the second, as the earliest Doric dates to 570-560 BC. and was destroyed by fire around 510 BC. Gradually the sanctuary of Aphaia declined after the Athenian rule in Aegina and only some repairs were made in the 4th c. e.g. By the end of the 2nd century it had been abandoned. The church is considered a top creation of archaic architecture and is believed to have been the model church for the architects of the Parthenon, Iktinos and Kallikrates.
The temple is a Doric pavilion, with 12 monolithic columns (except for three that have vertebrae) on the long and 6 on the narrow sides. It rests on a three-tiered platform, has a front and back building with two columns in the form and a nave that is divided into three aisles formed by two two-column colonnades. The entrance was on the east side. The roof of the church was covered with Corinthian type clay tiles. The dimensions of the temple on the pillar are 13.77 by 28.81 m and it is made of local
