In this Zendaya interview - the one and only Andrew Garfield gushes over her portrayal as Rue during THAT moment in Season 2 of Euphoria. Does she agree with the No Way Home actor’s opinion?

She doesn’t regret it, she said she dreaded having to do it because it’s hard

As a drug addict myself, I can't stand watch Euphoria because Zendaya's acting is so on point. The anguish in Rue's crying and her words, knowing everything was her mistake, how she is ruining everything and everyone she lover, but she feels she can't stop because she CAN'T... I feel everything too deeply and it makes me wanna cry too.

If Zendaya wins another Emmy for this performance, the pain she had on display will be worth it.

I will say as an addict, I almost had to turn this off. It was one of the most realistic depictions of what we go through. I remember doing all of that to my mother. She never gave up on me. I'm a lil over 3 years clean now. She did such a grade A job of showing all of the *what you think are* ups, but it quickly comes to a head and you realize you've BEEN at rock bottom for a long time. You just keep thinking "all I've gotta do is get well- then ill deal w everything else after" then before you know it, you're homeless, doing things you never in your worst nightmares imagined you'd do just for a fix for the day. Then you wake up and realize you've gotta do it all over again the next day. It's something I'd never wish on my most hated enemy.

She 100% deserves that Emmy and another one. Euphoria gets a bad rap, but it has the most accurate portrayal of addiction I’ve seen.

That is the best crying I’ve ever seen in a film or show or you know, that wasnt genuine. Because that’s what real crying really looks like. It’s sniffling, hyperventilating, lots of tears, struggling to find your words, stuttering, rubbing your face. Wow. I nearly cried just watching this

As a former addict, she has managed to portray addiction more accurately than any other media depiction I’ve ever seen. The utter hopelessness and and rage she exhibits in these scenes sums up addiction so well.

This is why I can’t stand when people who haven’t watched the show say “it’s glorifying drug use”. The whole show is watching rue slowly ruin her life, and watching it affect her family and friends.

To point out more thing that people have commented: the scenes of Cassie and Maddie on molly are not good points at all! Cassie was humping the carousel, cheated on her bf and got recorded and she was embarrassed and ruined her relationship. Maddie causes a huge scene, gets hit by Nate and that’s how the whole abuse investigation and trauma with Nate started. And rues scenes were magical because it was in her short lived happy place where she escapes from all her issues. Showing that drugs help her forget for a couple hours and make her life outside even more of a living hell.

And to mention the sexualization. It’s supposed to make u uncomfortable. Showing that these people are kids and doing all this stuff. Which is happening in real life. Kids are out drinking, hooking up with random people and getting recorded and blasted for it, doing hard drugs and these themes. Do I think it was a little much and some parts were unnecessary? Omg yes definitely. Like they did not need to show Cassie’s boobs that much. But they did do their job in making the people watching uncomfortable.

I genuinely can’t watch Euphoria, as an addict. Brings up too much. Like DiCaprio, in The Basketball Diaries. The scene where he’s banging on the door talking to his mom? Yeah. Just makes me physically sick how accurate it is. She’s an amazing actress. Maybe I’ll watch it in full someday.

this scene was so powerful and zendaya did a wonderful job of displaying life with an addict. this episode reminded me of the shit i went through with my parents, my stepbrother, and it’s insane to see how well she presented the mania and withdrawals

I’m really glad she chose to do it because the emotional instability and manipulation that goes on with her character is what REAL drug addiction looks like. Yes, the physical symptoms are there but these type of emotional outburst is what most families with someone who’s an addict have to go through and it is painful and hurtful to have to witness this happen to someone you care about.

This scene was so terrifyingly similar to my brother's behavior. It was a very real representation of that explosive confrontation

euphoria’s directors and Zendaya herself truly make this feel like reality, I’m a drug addict and have been for a while now, I’ve tried to quit over and over again and it’s hard. I’m going to rehab soon and I hope I can find myself again and live the life I deserve. And honestly this is the first time I’ve really said it out loud, but I think I’ll be okay.

Rue is played so brilliantly I forget she's Zendaya acting sometimes.

As an addict, this scene and the scene where she's in full withdrawal and Laurie gives her a shot of morphine in the bathtub are the hardest to watch. She is truly an amazing actor.
