Descenders Guide: Career Session - Highlands

Descenders is a downhill mountain biking game released for PC, Xbox, PS4, and Nintendo Switch that is designed almost like a rogue-like game, where you make your way through several environments with procedurally-generated levels and try to rack up points without running out of lives. Surpass the challenging jumps and even more challenging terrain to boost your reputation, advance within your sponsor team, and unlock the multitude of cosmetic options Descenders has for you to customize your rider and bike with. Can you make it all the way from the Highlands to the Peaks without getting a game over? And, if so, can you also unlock the many secret areas that can be found along the way, or even make your way into the fiery Volcano?

Recently, the PC version of Descenders released a major Modding Update, which introduced the ability for people to design their own skins, bikes, and even custom maps. On youtube, you'll see a lot of attention on this game recently showing off the many excellent custom maps - some on the extreme side, and some extremely realistic and challenging on a smaller scale. But I want to start out with the basic career mode and give anyone who may be new to the game or who doesn't know about it an introduction to the main gameplay loop and what to know/watch out for to help new players hit less of a roadblock. Tony Hawk-style this is not, but Descenders has its own mechanics that you can learn well and develop a high skill level with if you stick with it.

The games where you hate it at first because it seems impossible but you learn it as you keep going are the the most rewarding! I remember hating motorcycle racing games at first but now I love them. Same with this game! :D

I really didn't care for this game when I first played it. It has some nasty color filters on there and I remember beeing let down because I expected something else without remembering now what it even was that I was expecting.But since you didn't like this game aswell, maybe I'll give it another shot down the line

Do you know why my lives don’t even work??? If I die, even if I have five extra lives, the screen just goes grey and I can’t respawn

anywho....I just picked it on Steam for 10$ .... what are Lives for and Health? what is the little map with the little dots? whats the little RED numbers next to the dots??

I see a little skull on it..do I make a B Line towards it? How do I know if its a Boss or mini Boss jump or whatever it is? Is there a Big Meanie I gotta smack with my back tire?? How do I pick up new bikes?

I pretty much got the concept of the tricks down, I mean i've only played for an hour or so and already landed a 360 Frontflip..and thats kinda rare to just need to know what everything else is. ;) thanks guys (you did a good job with whats up with regards to some of my questions)

Can you save the progress you’ve made because I reached the forest after highlands and then I died so then it sends me to Highlands again can’t you save the progress?
