"Why didn't they decide to tank earlier?" Because somebody higher than Daboll told Daboll you better lose this game. So that would fall on Schoen or Mara (or Tisch even) telling Daboll that it's time to wind down the season, obviously too late but that's ownership not being able to make up their mind on what to do (once again, same mistakes, different year. they don't learn from their mistakes), which bit them in the long term. Although the 3rd pick puts them in position for Cam Ward, Sanders or Hunter, depending on how the draft unfolds. They got very lucky that the Patriots won and look at Jerod Mayo being fired for what happens when you're told to tank and you win the game anyways. Mayo was groomed FOR YEARS to take over when Bill left and was IMMEDIATELY fired. That says a lot. Anyways, the Giants are now in position for the best player in the draft OR a potential franchise QB. It couldn't have unfolded any better tbh.

Very well put .. you’re exactly spot on. Giants are the joke of the NFC East time for a change. Mara and Tisch are acting soft like there afraid to fire these guys who haven’t done anything. Any other job you don’t produce your replaced.

The question isn’t should Schoen and Daboll be fired but who can we replace them with who will be an upgrade? There may be as many as eight or nine head coach openings soon and the Giants are going to be one of the least desirable jobs. just grabbing some random offensive or defensive coordinator and giving them a head coaching job is a huge risk of repeating this pattern we’ve been going through for the past many years. Firing Schoen but not Daboll is a nonstarter because no new GM wants that situation. Keeping the current guys won’t be popular but it may be the best football move available.

Wow Pat do you really feel they don't care? Or don't know what bad football is? This has been a colossal failure from the top down. The ownership needs to find the right employee that can find talent in the draft, particularly in the late rounds. Take a lesson from the top teams in the league. Each year they pick in the late rounds and are consistently competing for a championship.

Your missing an important part of the equation. The Mara’s, like a GM/Coach’s have hit or misses on who they decide on. The Coaching/GM Pool is who there is available and you don't know what you have until you see them in action.

But he did draft very good players in general.
As for coach Daboll, he is a great coach who catches a bad break!

I remembered how criticized was coach Parcell when he had that bad season!! Everyone wanted his head cut!! All the "experts" like you Pat, wanted the coach to be fire!
After two championships, now Bill Parcell is a Hall of fame coach.

I still wouldn't trade my giants experience for anything. I've lucky enough to have seen 2 superbowls at age 32 in my life while the ppl who made me a Giants fan was still alive. These years suck but whenever we are good will make it worth it. Until then enjoy it for what it is, cope the best I can and it is what it is

Totally disagree with Pat. As usual the NY media gaslights the fans with there so called "expert opinions". Yes, mistakes were made, but Joe/Brian inherited a mess. Confident they will turn it around. Hopefully NY Giants brass is tuning out the noise (NY media) and bring these guys back.
