We have the new Tudor Pelagos 39 in our hand, live in Geneva!
You know that thought experiment you do at night when you're trying to get to sleep? The one where you're trying to design a hybrid watch with all your favourite details - not too big, not too heavy, no date window, not too extortionately priced, decent water resistance and so on and so forth? Well, it turns out that Tudor were listening in. Earlier this week, they dropped the brand new Tudor Pelagos 39 to much surprise and even more fanfare. Currently in Switzerland for Geneva Watch Days, Zach wasted no time in rushing straight over to the Tudor HQ to have a closer look at the new release in the metal.
A few details immediately stand out. First, of course, is the compact 39mm diameter that is considerably less than the original 42mm Pelagos. Then there's the case that's fabricated in grade 2 titanium. Lightweight and highly scratch-resistant, it's entirely satin finished to maintain a full-on tool watch vibe. Fans of vintage Rolex Submariners and Sea-Dwellers will also be delighted by the red text on the black satin sunray dial. In other good news, the dial has no date complication – keeping the dial clean and serene.
"So what do I think of this new watch?" says Zach in this video. "Well, I appreciate the new size. I appreciate the compact lug to lug - looking at it as a 58 owner it's very akin in dimensions. Look for 4,200 CHF you really can't beat this."
