We have the new Tudor Pelagos 39 in our hand, live in Geneva!

You know that thought experiment you do at night when you're trying to get to sleep? The one where you're trying to design a hybrid watch with all your favourite details - not too big, not too heavy, no date window, not too extortionately priced, decent water resistance and so on and so forth? Well, it turns out that Tudor were listening in. Earlier this week, they dropped the brand new Tudor Pelagos 39 to much surprise and even more fanfare. Currently in Switzerland for Geneva Watch Days, Zach wasted no time in rushing straight over to the Tudor HQ to have a closer look at the new release in the metal.

A few details immediately stand out. First, of course, is the compact 39mm diameter that is considerably less than the original 42mm Pelagos. Then there's the case that's fabricated in grade 2 titanium. Lightweight and highly scratch-resistant, it's entirely satin finished to maintain a full-on tool watch vibe. Fans of vintage Rolex Submariners and Sea-Dwellers will also be delighted by the red text on the black satin sunray dial. In other good news, the dial has no date complication – keeping the dial clean and serene.

"So what do I think of this new watch?" says Zach in this video. "Well, I appreciate the new size. I appreciate the compact lug to lug -  looking at it as a 58 owner it's very akin in dimensions. Look for 4,200 CHF you really can't beat this."

Literally thinner than a submariner and arguably a better size. Mind blowing

Excellent review of a superb watch. This is the Tudor Sub of 2022. No date, red text, 39mm: Tudor is on fire this year and they "knocked one out of the park" with the Pelagos 39.

Lovely work. Got this watch two weeks ago, and I now swapped to the rubber strap. Can't describe it any way other than Tudor has made a product that is too good!

Thanks Zach for the hands on review! Wow, this 39mm size, in titanium with 70 hour power reserve and it comes with an additional strap? I’m sold.

This is finally a watch from Tudor that combines all of the things that I need and like. The bracelet is much better than any of the faux rivet styles on the Black bay range, proper crown guards with no fat popping out crown tube and no fake aged lume. The use ceramic is also a much better design than aluminium. Will definitely be checking it out. How does the lume look?

A “pure” mechanical tool watch is a fatuous concept in this day and age. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I like that they “dressed” this up a bit with the sunburst dial and ceramic bezel insert (although I’m glad it’s not glossy a la Sub). And it’s still different enough from the BB58. This bracelet is killer.

If I didn’t just get my 124060 from my AD, I’d get this in a heartbeat!

Love the red Pelagos text

This Tudor should be the next BOND watch.

Very unbiased video for the looks of it..

Sunray dial I can maybe deal with, but sunray bezel insert....no thx. The original Pelagos dial and bezel compliment the utilitarian no nonsense tool aesthetic perfectly. Almost Tudor, almost.

Look forwards to seeing one in the metal, looks like they've absolutely nailed it. If I was being picky, I wouldn't have the text in red, but I understand the decision.

This could be the best Tudor of the modern era. I love the BB58. I've had several of them and still have the 925 silver version which is wonderful and a bit special but slightly flawed. I really like the metal bracelet, which the BB58 silver doesn't have, and the T fit clasp system looks to be superb.

deposit paid yesterday and been told I should see it in 3 weeks. been looking for a watch since I sold my rolex gmt. felt personally that rolex had overtaken my lifestyle and was uneasy walking around with what had become a £12k watch. this matches me personally better with no rivets and better clasp. can't wait!

Imagine the OG BB58 with a T-fit. It will explode.

Nice of Tudor to let us know who and when they can wear it 👍🏼

The case is more refined and detailed than the 42mm Pelagos. Look at that underside chamfer, small lug foot at the tips, and the facets on the pointed crown guard. Beautiful
