This video explains why it is better to make clamps instead of buying clamps for your CNC router. It is very easy to make design clamps in you CNC design software and cut them out quickly. Your CNC router is a woodworking machine and they are an easy cnc router project

Designing clamps takes about an hour as does running them. they can be made with a single bit as was done in this video.

It will happen! You will hit a clamp at some point during your CNC journey. Hard clamps break expensive CNC router bits. Soft clamps do not.

Clamps are expensive from most sources.

Painting tape works well especially
On smaller projects but on bigger jobs clamps can quickly be positioned another reason to buy the file timber clamps easy to remade
+ Less damage to bits may change slot size from 6mm to 8mm to suit my T-slot fixings thanks Garrett

I like your clamps., How true it is that no matter how you try not to at some point your going to hit a clamp. Personally I use several different clamping methods. This one is getting added to the tool box. In fact I have a fixture that this is going to work perfectly on. Thanks for the great design.

Spent good money on aluminum clamps, never used them. Made my own, used a eighth inch staircase slope on the end that clamps down, to have different levels. Worked best with solid 1x4 pine, they saved my arse lol

When I used clamps, rather than blue tape + CA glue, besides the clamp being wood, I use nylon bolts rather than metal. I've found these to be plenty strong and of course no worries about the bit hitting them by accident. I buy a big bag of them on Amazon and cut some down to shorter lengths.

A counterbore on a few of those will get the head of the screw down below the wood surface. Less chance of bit interaction. And an opportunity for 2-sided design exercise

You have got to try painters tape and ca glue! I haven't used a clamp since and if done right you don't need tabs either. However that is an awesome designed clamp! Thumbs up as always!

I like your clamps as shown in your video. However, what is your opinion on the home made cam clamps, or the type of clamping where you tap in some wedges. Both of the are very low profile, but do you have an opinion on these?
