This was filmed using materials from Unit 3, Week 3 in the 3rd Grade Benchmark Advance program.

The demonstration encompasses an entire 90 minute reading block. This was Day 1 and the launch to the week. Consequently, it begins with the reading mini-lesson, Build Knowledge and Integrate Ideas. This is followed by the mini-lesson, Recount Key Details and Determine Main Ideas.

The demonstration moves lesson 12 to Day 1.

The demonstration includes the read aloud, “Lonely Island” from the Read Aloud Handbook. The lesson concludes with students completing a worksheet on closed syllables followed by students accessing their leveled readers via Clever.

This was impressive! My class this year is very difficult and it was lovely to see how smooth your lesson went! Your students did very well 😊

I love how the students share their work to the class on the Elmo. Watching this has given me new ideas for Monday! Thank you! And tell your class they did a great job collaborating and sharing!

This was such a great lesson! Did you record any lessons for unit 5? I have an observation coming up and I'd love to see what you did for that unit.

Great Job! How do I get students interested in the overall theme? You have such well behaved students this helps out well.

Great lesson. How do you pair students up for partner reading?

How would you adapt benchmark advance for students who are reading three grades below grade level? I have 4th and 5th SPED and some are reading at K-1st. I’m a little at a loss at how to best utilize it, but my district wants student to have access to the curriculum (which I fully understand).

I wish the kids were more authentic in their behavior! "copy" "steal" Um, not the best language.
