Lovely to see so many plus size bodies modelling Cris Woods sewing patterns.

I love the concept of zero waste and I could see adapting patterns with darts, once the item is made, so it doesn't look too baggy.

Thanks Kate. I love the Trench coat, especially the stand on the collar, very professional. I too have a problem liking the zero waste patterns, I find them rather dull and shapeless. I do my very best to use up all my fabric scraps and am very conscious of waste.

Just want to say I really enjoy these videos even tho i'm only an aspirational sewer after watching the sewing bee! You have such a lovely vibe Kate in the way you talk to your viewers and how you explain the patterns. I hope all the ideas will sink in and maybe I'll take the plunge one of these days!!!

Sunday mornings: coffee and Kate! Great patterns. The quilted jacket really is a beaut! I will definitely think about that one!

Hmm, Kate. I so understand the desire to not discard leftover fabric scraps. However, I think these zero waste patterns are just so oversized which makes the amount of fabric required more, thus more expensive to make, which requires more fabric production, etc, etc. So while the intent is there, I don't think it is more environmentally better - yet. Hopefully as the industry moves ahead with the zero waste idea, the pattern companies learn how to also add shape back in. The 'retro' cardigan/sweater is lovely and the trench coat style lines are impressive. Thanks Kate! Love my Sunday mornings with you.

‘Bobby dazzlers’, love it. Haven’t heard that saying in years 😊

I just have a comment on zero-waste patterns in general. The amount of fabric needed for a dress depends on one’s height, length of dress and width of the roll. Once cut, the material is “wasted”. Whether you now use every sq.in. of it, or cut out the shape of a dress pattern does not change its status as “wasted”. Scraps can be put to use in other projects or handed in for recycling. Where I live clothes that are good enough to be reused are treated separately from textile scraps and worn to death clothes. I am not fond of billowing clothes that do not suit my lifestyle. They just get in the way. Obviously many others have very different views.😊

I hope some designer is out there working on zero-waste patterns that are a bit more fitted, because I love the *idea* of that way of constructing patterns, but in practice it seems to result in clothes that only suit the very slim! I do like that Itch to Stitch trench though - I always love their patterns.

Thank you for another great round up. I think the Juniper Dress would be fantastic occasion wear.

There have been so many great quilted jackets in your videos lately! Would you consider doing a pattern roundup video?

The Carlotta cardigan and quilted coat are lovely. I think depending upon fabric choice, the Cris Wood Sews zero waste designs would have a less boxy, oversized look whilst being comfortable to wear. Thanks, Kate.

Ooo love the new designer! I’ve just been and purchased the 1hr skirt to sew today ❤

Lots of nice patterns, thanks. The bow on the Juniper dress could be made with a contrasting fabric and made in a heavier-weight material to give it more structure.

I am not a fan of “no waste” pattern styles, but I really like the idea of the size calculator. I personally won’t download pdf patterns for anything besides small projects because I really dislike taping the pieces together. I like the idea of being given the dimensions to draw the pattern onto the fabric directly. I’d be more likely to buy virtual patterns for larger garments if that was an option.

The Carlotta looks lovely - wish they had shown a photo of the model wearing it fully buttoned up to see what it looked like as it’s hard to tell.

The zero waste patterns are basically tents. A bit disappointed in those. With some more work and creativity zero waste doesn't need to equate to shapeless/boring
