Queer Coding: The Fruit Section

In today’s episode we’ll be discussing how the placement of characters could be a hint at Will and Mike being queer. Or at the very least a fun bit of symbolism! The scenes analyzed today are all from season 3 of Stranger Things.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’ve genuinely went ahead and began writing my own original story because of you pointing out all of these easy-to-miss potential hints in one of my favorite shows of all time and I have nothing but thanks to give to you because I literally wouldn’t have been kickstarted doing anything without your vids lol. I hope that when season five comes out, it would also come out a video of you saying neither "See? I was right! Who si the crazy now ha!" Or "Ok, i was wrong, but the duffer brothers played with me come on" Both of the scenarios are worth for me

I’m personally really nervous on how the Stranger Things writers will do Mike and Will in the last season. They need to do it in a way that is “convincing” (for all the viewers who don’t think either or Mike is gay) and that doesn’t clog up the screen time. I just feel like the last season might be really messy if they try to cram their relationship in but I’m really hopeful it is done right because they have such a sweet bond w/ each other.

I was wondering what you think about some of the possible queer coding with Max? Max often wears rainbow striped clothes, especially in S3. The writers also posted a photo of Max on international lesbian day along with Robin. Maybe it's not intentional but given all the queer coding with Mike I wouldn't be surprised.
Anyway, I'm enjoying your videos, they're really interesting. So much stuff that I hadn't spotted the first or even second/third time watching the show. :)
