This is a re-edited version of a the original video that I made shortly after the film was released. I re-edited the video to better illustrate my intent in creating an original video essay. What follows it the original description of the video:

The Yi family struggles through extreme hardships, facing endless problems and stressors from seemingly all sides. In this video essay, I take a look at why this is exemplar of the American dream we so often hear about in the history books and family trees.

So join me on this journey to see one portrayal of this never-ending pursuit through my thoughts.

I am grateful and pleased to be able to engage and interact with more forms of representation for Asians and Asian-Americans in popular Western media. Minari as a film - as a piece of art - is a great feat of progress for this movement. So thank you to everyone involved in the creation of this film.
