Our Canadian boys from Quebec helping our American family... I wish Trump would see this and recognize that we're not bad people in Canada.

Those are Canadair CL-415, 30 million each, that can drop 1400 to 1600 gallon every 6 to 8 minutes instead of having to be loaded in an airfield, you see in Quebec we have lots of lakes and lots of forest, so it make sense to used those water bombers.

US are best at many things, but when comes the time to deal with some major disasters, your friendly neighbor up north that seemed useless suddenly comes in handy. Restoring power outages caused by hurricanes or freezing rain storms would take months, if not years, without the help of thousands of Canadian (Quebec) highly skilled and equipped linemen and their, working 16 hour shifts rebuilding your power grid from A to Z. When it comes to electricity, we rule big time. We are the best in the world at this job. We also like to help out our old friends south of the border when we are needed, of course.
And the other thing Canadians are appreciated worldwide, it's putting out wild fires! Here we come with our Canadair CL-415 water bombers, and or course their skilled and fearless hell-pilots with giant steel balls! These badass permanent test-pilots are your only option when all hell breaks loose like this! They're used to refill on small lakes, surrounded by dense northern forests and mountains, flying through violent turbulence caused by heat and thick smoke that reduces visibility... yet, they manage do drop their load (1, 850 US gallons) every 5 minutes, with a refill time of 14 seconds! So having a huge lake called ''Pacific Ocean'' as their water supply, without any obstacles whatsoever to deal with, this job is for sure just a walk in the park for these guys. And prepare yourself for a fishy smell, a lot of critters get swallowed by these yellow flying whales!
By the way, I just heard on the news that Canada sent more of these planes to the rescue.
Be patient, these aircrafts weren't designed for speed! Just hang in there, people! And good luck!

I remember seeing news footage of that when I was a child in the 1980s.

I’ve always wondered why they don’t use ocean water instead of our precious drinking water

They drop the water all at once, or they spray it through a hose?
