The Toyota Corolla is one of the best-selling and best all-around compact sedans on the market today. That's really nothing new considering it's been around for nearly 50 years. Currently in its 11th generation, the Corolla was last redesigned in 2013. Power comes from a capable 1.8-liter inline-four with a total of 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque.

Our test car came with a CVT, but you can also opt for a six-speed manual on the base and 'Sport' models (a four-speed automatic is also available on the base). But how much do you really know the Corolla?

Check out our walk around video where we also discuss three very interesting Corolla facts you'll want to know.

Trust me, you don’t want a turbo engine. It’ll be more maintenance than it should be. The N/A 1.8 is perfect

Toyota refreshed the Corolla for 2017, adding a safety sense package standard across the board which includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Control and Automatic High Beams. They also had 50th anniversary edition for 2017 and the CVT transmission is now standard

Toyota doesn't make "cheap" cars unlike the Mitsubishi Mirage and other American manufacturers. They know Americans don't want a car that has cheap plastics inside or an interior that will fall apart after a few years. Toyota is known for their good build quality and legendary reliabilty

Overall the Corolla is safe, economical, reliable, roomy and affordable. Negatives are underpowered engine, poor handling and no Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

Nice video. I hope to look up some of your other videos. Compared to some of the other reviewers, you don't have a robotic, "scripted" delivery. You don't grate on my ears like Saabkyle or Cameron cars reviews. Hek, even the Fast Car lane, I find them a little tough to enjoy. So awesome job!

The rear L+R headrests don't adjust or come out...blocking the rear view window!

Power seats would be over doing it in this class just a Tad. I don't know why more power would be expected with its intended purpose? Gas mileage is where this car could use an "update". It's not the best in terms of fuel economy. I recently got a quote for a mid level LE for $15k.

I would never get a Turbo they put too much stress on the engine and then they don't last as long. That is the main thing that makes it a reliable car is that the are natural aspirated. This model the 2016 has plenty of power I can over take any car with mine and I have no issues going up hill there is no lag. Toyotas are great cars because the company knows its products and make them better a little at a time until they have a perfect product and they learn from their mistakes.

132 horsepower from a car that only weighs 2700 lb is excellent but I would like to see is independent suspension in the rear and 4 wheel disc brakes and I wish mine had a stick manual transmission

Turbos can be less than optimal but I wish toyota had an engine similar to the mazda 2.5.

Stay away from the turbo, they will cost you money over time.
