That’s what a Nebraska state senator named Ernie Chambers did back in 2007. Chambers sued God even though he didn’t believe in him, or her…or whatever. An outspoken atheist, Chambers often criticized Christianity during his 46 years in the Nebraska legislature.
Chambers sued God symbolically, of course. He was trying to prove a point after his colleagues were trying to make it more difficult for poor people to sue others. In court, Chambers accused God of acting like a terrorist, causing natural disasters and widespread panic. No, not the BAND, Widespread Panic. ACTUAL widespread panic.
However, a judge dismissed the suit since Chambers couldn’t let God know about the suit because he didn’t have his…uh…address.
Chambers later replied that he shouldn’t HAVE to let God know because GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING.
