Who is Ron Spomer
For 44 years I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion – the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me – from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I've seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

This is Steve from Michigan with this question, answered by Ron. Extreme thanks for answering it I was excited to hear he addressed it! However, I am talking specifically about the federal terminal accident bullets, not case, the projectile. Still no clarity from anybody. I know Ron said that they wouldn’t sell it if it would ruin a barrel, but that’s like saying Ford won’t sell a car where the airbags won’t deploy, or any company won’t sell something because it’s not good, the old term bean counters! I can understand the position of not wanting to bash brands or take up brands for a litany of reasons, but would still like to know. Many thanks again for addressing it, definitely made my day either way

Nicole cases are also slicker, good for autoloaders, lever actions, and even bolt actions. Albeit, a very small amount slicker than brass.

I believe that it also makes the case smoother helping with feeding and ejecting.

Im with the OP in your question, he is talking about nickel coated bullets. Federal Terminal Ascent is one example im currently looking at. They nickel coat the bullet and case

Ron, what are your thoughts on reloading nickel plated cases? I’ve done it but some people say not to.

Federal trophy bonded and terminal ascent bullets are nickel plated.

I understand that nickel cases were developed so ammo could be carried in leather belt loops without corrording. This used to be a big issue for Police Officers.
