I hate to see cars like this in rough condition. That’s why I really admire folks like you who give them attractive upgrades. ‘90s cars are so underrated in my opinion, hope enough of them can live on for decades to come like classics

This is the exact thing that happened to me! My family has owned a 7th gen Civic my entire life, and now it’s my car! I am keeping it all stock as it has been its whole life. It’s funny that this happened with the delayed start, I just got my starter replaced and it did the same thing for a few days. I guess it was just the car “re-adjusting” itself. Good luck with your Accord!

It's a lovely car Ryan, I've been driving the 2002 European built model for the past 9 years and it has been so reliable and comfortable to drive. Our 6th gen Accords looks quite similar to the US models (mine is a hatchback and manual transmission). Really cool that you have this car and all it's history in your life. Thanks for sharing the video.

You may not still have this car but in case you don’t know transmission shifting issues can be help helped by doing 3 drain and fills in a row which is in the owner’s manual and use only Genuine Honda transmission fluid DW - 1. It’s important to not overfill or underfill the fluid and replace the drain gasket. I have a 1998 Accord V/6 with 311, 000 kilometers (about 186, 000 miles) and I had the Honda dealer do this. When warm the shifts from 2nd to 3rd are much smoother.
I had the transmission rebuilt in 2016 and they refilled it with Dexron 3. When I went back a month later they added 250 mL of an additive and the fluid turned black over about 2 years and was shifting badly. I took it back and had 2 drain and fills and that helped a lot. Here’s a recent bit of info I just learned. On the V6 on the right hand side there is a cover with that covers the solenoids and has 3 tubes in it with screens that can be cleaned. I have never done this just mentioning it. Doing this can improve shift quality. The main thing is to do a drain and fill once a year as preventative maintenance . I had to do my own research to keep the transmission running properly. One other thing I do is wait until the rpm’s drop down before shifting into reverse when cold. Greetings from British Columbia.

My dad owned one when I was a little baby as well. It's an amazing car and I really miss when we went on road trips to the beach. And I also had mines in a dark green. I love to see that people could still own these cars. I love old hondas. especially this one. My dad had some mods on it and it sounded super good. I miss the chime from when I used to get in for school or something like that. I love this car, keep it in good condition!!

Thanks, I should add it’s been the best car I’ve ever had. I never got any useful advice from the Honda dealer. I hit a giant pot hole after the rebuild and no one was able to diagnose the heavy thump starting cold. It wasn’t until i had the timing belt replaced that a broken motor mount was found. I do keep up on the maintenance but can only do basic things myself. Squeaking from the front suspension was corrected when I had a broken stabilizer link replaced and that also corrected wandering to the right. That was discovered by accident during the 3 drain and fills. But I had to be persistent about the “scraping “ sounds when turning the wheel. A new advisor at Honda was very good.

She's a beauty! Your Mom did a fantastic job of maintaining that car.
I hope she's doing well too. Plenty of us are thinking of her and pray for her good health.

This is beautiful to see. I just took over my mom's 98 accord (in black) too 😅 She drove it when she was in Uni, while I was a kid. I have a lot of work I want to do on it, so hopefully I get some inspiration from yours.

Should I get a 1998 Honda Accord DX with 68k miles for 3.6k? Interior and exterior seem in very good to mint condition. I really do like Honda’s (due to their reliability and ease of repair.)

Got this as my first car,
1999 Lx model 👍
Has 141k miles on it and got it for 4k
Interior is mint, has a few paint chip, little rust on the door that I can sand down, little dent on top of the car, but other than that my car runs and shifts like a dream but of course it being a automatic it will not compare to an lexus trans

I grew up in the back of a 96 accord in this color, I miss that thing now. I don’t remember it ever having any problems. I get the sentimental value. I would have offered my dad to buy it, but I was only about 13 when he sold it

Gotta love that dinger when you open the door, I remember it from my mom's 1997 Accord LX. Wish I still had that car, but at least I have my 05 Civic

My dad and I just picked up one of these with a 5 speed manual. Absolute beauty of a car, very smooth after 300k miles

You forgot to mention about the headlights which is the same ones I'm going to get for mine. I bought a 1999 accord auto 265k for $1, 100. Runs, drives like new. No issues. With the wheel bolt pattern being 4x4.5 and not the common 4x100 I'm having trouble finding wheels for mine. I've been searching on marketplace.
