Scientists Discovered The First Anatomically Modern Humans Here

In the past, it was believed that the modern human race descended from a human ancestor, between 300,000 and 200,000 years ago. However, the exclusion of some living populations from the anatomically modern morphological classification was a problem.

Because of this, a 'cladistic' definition of Homo sapiens has been proposed, according to which the term would, by definition, refer to the modern human lineage that resulted from the division from the Neanderthal lineage. According to a cladistic definition, Homo sapiens have been around for more than 500,000 years.

An alternative definition of Homo sapiens includes the lineage of modern humans, since we diverged from the Neanderthals between 500,000 and 800,000 years ago. However, around 744,000 years ago, when combined with numerous early admixture events, and Denisovans diverging from Neanderthals 300 generations after their split from Homo sapiens, is the estimated time of the divergence between archaic Homo sapiens and ancestors of Neanderthals and Denisovans, which was caused by a genetic bottleneck of the latter.

Thank you for another thought provoking video. If you could go and interview a human, any human, living in Africa 50/75/100, 000 years ago and ask, "Why have you not left Africa?" They would look at you like you were nuts. 'Out of WHERE' they most likely would ask. They simply followed resources or got away from a drought or an enemy or mother-in-law, whatever. Arbia through much of history was lush and had everything a group of hunter/gatherers would need. If they met Neanderthals or Homo Erectus, they either moved on after some initial skirmishes or intermingled with and even had children with them. If hunter/gatherer groups got too small and two groups suffering from the same problem met, combining together may have been the only way they could survive, just because one was 'modern human' and the other Neanderthal, if faced with extermination, they would most likely put their differences aside and formed a new group. The offspring of that group would be more vigorous and healthier than even their parents and survival would even be more likely. This is all speculation of course, but the likelihood it happened is high enough, considering that scenario is not too far-fetched.

I live in Sweden and it is really cold in winter time. Long time ago I had two stepsons ca 6 years old with mixed heritage (Somalian/Russian). When they went to kindergarten one got terribly ill and nearly died of some virus infection but the other just got a minor cold. The one getting severely ill had long curlie hair but the other had totally straight hair. This is just one example, no proof, but is seams straightforward, straight hair insulates much better from cold air than curli hair.
On the other hand in Africa curli hair allows evaporation of sweat to cool the head much better than straight hair.

I have seen a YouTube experiment with two men of same weight but different build. The one with more stocky Neanderthal built conserved heat much better than the other more normal built one in the freeze-room.

I think modern humans first began to develop along a line west to east bordering sub Sahara Africa. Their development occurred in order to meet the demands of climate change and the resulting. environment in which they lived. Eventually they populated areas as far Northwest as Morocco and possibly even beyond the Strait of Gibraltar. They also moved into areas along the great rift valley. We know that Homo sapiens subsequently move out of Africa from both the Northeast through the confluence of the Middle East as well as South through Ethiopia and Somalia. I suspect there was a stream of migrations the most important caused by natural disaster beginning 75, 000 years ago. As to skeletal remains, easier to find and more lasting in the rift valley.

"The exclusion of some modern populations from the anatomically modern morphological classification was a problem."

Politics pollutes everything these days.

Great video! I cannot wait for LIDAR studies of the sub-Sahara and Arabia to be performed. The Sumerians left record of a fabled civilization called Dilmun that may be the undiscovered legacy of a long-term human occupation in Arabia. Perhaps LIDAR will find there something like what was found in Brazil, only under the sands.

Very comprehensible report. I appreciate this channel. I'm a subscriber BTW.

5:04 I think the pre-frontal cortex developed because of speech. Once people developed the primitive ability to speak simple words, the frontal cortex evolved and the chin evolved (the chin is the attachment point of the more finely developed and more intricately motile lower lip muscles which are required for advanced speech) for advancement of speech which is a great survival tool.

Ummm….we DIDNT divide from the Neanderthal lineage, as ther were never a direct ancestor

your time line from neanderthal through denensovan and through homo sapien seems to be off by a factor of 10 or 20..

Can I ask please if you can make the coloured writing easier to read. With poor eyesight it's very hard to see the coloured writing. Thank you.

au contraire! The occipital bone is NOT missing from the human skull ~ given that, everything else you say is suspect ~

I just don't think we can date the beginning of patriarchy much earlier than about 4500 years ago. and human females are just as smart and have just as much to contribute to ancient populations as the males and the evidence is there to support that contention. Of course one has to not ignore it

The people who came out of Africa and settled Europe and Asia had straight hair. They didn't evolve straight hair, they had it from the start, no way all Asians and Europeans evolved to have straight hair unless they did so from the start. Other people in Africa had the wooly hair and took over Africa after the straight-haired people left, and the remaining straight-haired people in Africa died off.

It’s never going to be a clean genetic cutoff date in the research. Just saying.
