Aqara Water leak sensor [Xiaomi - Mi home - walkthrough]

This water leak sensor is the latest addition to the portfolio of sensors that integrate with the Mi Home ecosystem.

This sensor can detect water and can be set up to notify you of a water leak. It connects over ZigBee to a Mi Home Gateway unit and because this tight integration with the Mi Home ecosystem it can also be set up to turn off any of the Mi Home-compatible power sockets in case of a water leak.

The water leak sensor just got announced in a new crowdfunding campaign and the first batch starts shipping early August.

Hi, can it be placed (submerged all the time) in a water bowl to detect when water run out? I want to place it in a water bowl for my pet, so that I would know when water is empty and need to be refilled.

Anyone tried to create a setup with some solenoid valve to actually turn off water if aqara sensor detects water? If so, which valve you used it?

Here's an interesting question: Can it be programmed to signal the opposite?

I need to check if there is no water in a tank. If there is no water, signal the smart plug to fill it.

Any ideas?

how about using it with a camera as a security system. have you tried that? i.e. door open, alarm sound, camera start recording.

Is it just me or is there a bug with the setting to have the gateway alarm buzz on/off ? Even if I set it to "off" (cursor=white) it still buzzes. Thanks !

wrong! you need a Aqara Smart Gateway. . Mi control hub does not work with this sensor
