Downpour Hits Athens, Paralyzing Traffic

Heavy rain lashed Greek capital Athens on Sunday evening, paralyzing traffic and upsetting people's daily life.

In the downtown area, many cars were stranded in flooded streets following hours of torrential rain.

Basement floors of residential houses in low-lying northwestern city have also been flooded and residents had to seek help from firefighters.

The normally sunny and dry Mediterranean country has been battered by rounds of torrential rains since May.
