microbit tutorial - micro bit tutorial - this is a beginner-friendly short video micro: bit tutorial called to allow kids to use the magic of of the micro:bit .

Most of the time you’ll be writing and testing your programs in the simulator. Once you’ve finished your program though, you can compile it and run it on your micro:bit. Transferring your program to the micro:bit is as simple as saving a file to a drive on your computer.
When you plug your micro:bit into USB, a new drive is created with the MICROBIT label. This is where you’ll save your program.

The basic steps are:
1. Connect your micro:bit to your computer with a USB cable.
2. Click Download to download the .hex file.
3. Move the .hex file from your computer onto the MICROBIT drive. The next section has instructions for the browser that you’re using.

While you’re writing and testing your programs, you’ll mostly be running them in the simulator, but once you’ve finished your program you can compile it and run it on your micro:bit.
The basic steps are:
1. Connect your micro:bit to your computer via USB
2. Click Download and download the .hex file
3. Copy the .hex file from your computer onto the micro:bit drive

if you need to update the firmware to access a new feature or troubleshoot a problem or you entered the maintenance mode and disconnec/reconnect the microbit doesn't fix the issue for you , here is how to do it:

A couple of things to remember:

Some USB cables are made for power (charging) only. If you use the wrong cable you cannot download so yes, it is important to look at the drives folder to see if in fact the Microbit shows up; ie, you computer can recognize the device with a good data USB cable.

Also, be careful when you plug in and unplug the micro-USB end of the cable into the Microbit, the connector is not strong so do not twist or torque the plug to get it out of the Microbit or the connector might break. We place index finger on one side of the plug and thumb on the other side , then squeeze so the finger tips pull the plug straight out, no twisting.
