The Second World War was one of the deadliest and most devastating conflicts in human history, claiming the lives of tens of millions of people across the globe.

While World War II is often to have thought to have begun when Nazi Germany invaded Poland on the 1st of September 1939, this single event was not the only reason why the world fell into a second global conflict.

It is generally agreed that a combination of factors, including economic instability, political tensions, and territorial ambitions, contributed to the eventual outbreak of hostilities in 1939.

In this video, we will examine both long-term and short-term causes that meant that the attack on Poland led to an all-out war.

Everything looks easier in hindsight. Just look at how complex our modern issues look

You titled this video "The causes of WWII explained " but you never really got to the causes. What you've done is briefly *chronicled some events in Europe.* You've ignored the "world" part of "World War", by ignoring what was happening in Asia. You've also ignored the realities of life in Europe post WWI, only touching on the Great Depressions, but skipping of the anti-Jewish, and other bigotry. Also missing is the spectre of the USSR, how the petroleum producing regions of SW Asia were increasingly important, and so on. To really discuss _causes_ one needs to discuss nationalism, imperialism, and rapid modernization (mostly due to the internal combustion engine), and why fascism became a popular political belief.

5:43 Why are you using a cold-war era map of Europe for the 1930's?

6:20 Why are you using a generic clip of a guy talking, instead of actual footage of Chamberlain?

Technically Britain started the war by declaring war on Germany. When Germany never attacked them,

The reason why WWII happened is that Germany was hurt enough to be mad, but not crippled unable to be a future military threat. Austro-Hungary was shattered and hurt, but they never were a threat to Europe.
And then to top it off, the allies wimped out in enforcing the treaty.
If you are going to bruise a bully without crippling him, don't be surprised when he hits back as soon as the handcuffs are off.
