lol he was so stoned while making this video: if you are at the skatepark in the morning for an hour, you can get almost an hour of skating in since you are there for an hour

My first time at a skatepark:
mormon preacher comes up and talks to me and my friends for 30 minutes (probably puts a curse on us), and then my friend breaks his leg

So I went to my first skatepark last Thursday, there was only about three or four people there, they all seemed pretty good to me. I told them I was new and they welcomed me. But I have to tell you it completely destroyed any confidence I had built before I went to that Park. I felt like I was the worst skater in the world and I would never get any better, and I also felt the other guys were constantly watching me and thinking I suck. It's probably mostly in my head but the anxiety of going to a skate park when you are new is definitely a real thing. You also will feel for sure like you are never going to be able to pick up skateboarding and be any good. Practice practice practice and then more practice, and then you might be able to do a partial Ollie. And then you need more practice lol. Anybody that can learn how to skateboard is okay in my book because they are dedicated goal-oriented individuals by default

i started skating when i was 12 and had a Walmart board and the local skaters that were at the park every day helped me alot and eventually got me to drop in i have now moved away but i still love them for that

I was at a skate park one day and i was struggling to do a kick flip then this guy with a lightning McQueen backpack went up to me and gave me a fist bump. I was confused at first but then it made me feel warm inside.
After a while the guy came up to me and gave me some advice. That was very wholesome of him

When I was a lil kid I used to try to ride a bowl. I didn’t know how to hit the wall right till this dude saw my struggling, and spent like 25 min working with me till I could cruise around it. 6 months later I see him winning a gold in Vancouver. It was Paul Rodriguez before he went pro. He was the nicest guy in the world and the reason I kept skating.

A few years back when I began to get right into skating I was too intimidated to go to the big local park as I have bad anxiety. So I spent a year or two at a quieter park solo and built my way up learning all the tricks I could. By the time I built up the courage to go to the local park I was already an advanced skater. But I regret not going there sooner because the crew there were all nice, accepting and encouraging. Most importantly you learn faster from others, especially if you've got the courage to go ask for a tip or two. If you want to progress faster, bite your lip and head down to the local and meet the crew. Worst case scenario is the local skaters there aren't as chill and you can just go somewhere else next time. Although it's intimidating, you will usually meet nice crew at most parks. I work in a skate shop and I would suggest if you want to sus the vibe of the local area, go talk to the homies behind the counter, they won't dis you because they want you to skate, to become apart of the community and support the local. If you bring down other skaters and critique how others skate then you shouldn't be skating. Skaters can always rely on other skaters and at the end of the day its not about who's the best or who's the worst, it's about having fun because you love skating.

A random thing I saw somewhere said, “if you don’t fall every time you skate, you’re not progressing” it’s the honest truth. Learn to fall right, and push your limits out skating.

Brutally honest - most people who will go out and buy a skateboard will quit and those who don’t will probs take 2 months to drop in and like 3-4 months to get ollies down while getting bodied every session with a couple of these being actually bad falls then probably needing to take 3 rest days or more…… then doing it all over I love skateboarding

pov: you got into skateboarding (as a dude) to get skater boys

I’m half joking, I also got into skating because I love it

Til this day, skate parks intimidate me..funny thing is, you're 100% right - everyone is generally friendly, saying "hey what's up" and everything when I go but since I feel like I'm not that good yet I feel like all eyes are on me while I'm practicing basic tricks! Just have to get out of that mindset!

i spent a year just pushing and turning, so learning tricks was so much easier

I'm 30 and it took me years and years to understand and respect skatepark etiquette. Gotta sit back for a min and see what's happening.

Skated when I was a young lad (15, 16) and only ever really bombed hills and cruised around town cause too young and poor for a car. Picked it back up these last few months and I can kinda ollie while moving but the rock to fakie is my only solid trick lol im 30 now and going to skateparks is fun af, definitely recommend going early but it’s also cool when other people show up cause you can see some cool shit done live. Everyone I’ve talked to and met has been nothing but nice and encouraging. As long as you actually try and practice hard and not be afraid to each shit every now and then you’ll progress. May take some time but you’ll get there jus don’t give up! It also helps if you have friends that are better than you and if you don’t you can for sure make some at the park if your friendly. Also go at peak hours to see some sick shit and the variety of talent in your area. I’m in Baltimore and i never knew we had so many dope skaters out here, highly underrated.
