HadesOmega How To VLOG: Set the Sag on your Suzuki DR650

In this video I had finally gotten around to installing a recently Cogent Dynamics serviced rear shock for the Cactus Puncher DR650. I wanted to make sure I installed it right and set the sag how your suppose to instead of guessing like I always do. To my surprise it need some preload still!

I'd like to note like I said in the VLOG setting your sag is not rocket science on an adventure bike your weight will change ALL the time so it doesn't have to be spot on. If you got one of those hydraulic preload adjusters you can probably adjust it to your hearts content!

there is a minimum threshold of spring length allowed, if you have only few threads, i think you are over the limit.

I'm not going to touch on the correctness or incorrectness of this method. However, If you'll loosen that lock ring and put your bike on a center stand or jack, you can turn that spring by hand, and therefore turn that bottom ring by hand, without removing the air box or anything. I've adjusted the sag on a DR many times without the first tool, until it was time to tighten the lock ring.

Hydraulic pre-load adjuster? Wouldn't that kind of be a bagged and slammed dual sport bike?

DO NOT USE THIS GUY'S METHOD!!! IT IS WRONG!!! You MUST be standing on the pegs, with your usual gear on, while someone holds the bike level, on it's tires. Then, you measure how much the rear suspension "sags" under it's own weight. This is done after you measure the position of the rear suspension fully extended.
