You know Italy was the "real deal" when the Olympics makes a special tribute to them. I saw this in 2008 and I was awestruck. Nearly 12 years on and it's still magnificent.

Today Italy won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Well deserved gold to Bulgaria and silver to Russia. Today, as 13 years ago, that 4th place at Beijing 2008 still hurts. Forza farfalle, Paris 2024 is so close!

13 years later, and it still hurts so much...I was 11 y.o. in 2008 and I remember crying while watching the tv at 4 in the morning, while listening to the italian girls crying during the interview...it is something that really broke me inside, maybe the first time I actually witnessed that life is not fair and doing the best is not always enough

This was so unfair but in a sport where there is no objectivity it is impossible to have fairness. This was a gold medal performance in my view

Senza nulla togliere alle farfalle...Per me, con le 5 palle di Londra 2012, uno degli esercizi migliori e più belli della nazionale di ritmica italiana creati fino ad oggi!!! Costumi stupendi, musica potentissima, colonna sonora inconfondibile, che energia le ginnaste, che potenza, espressività, la clavetta incastrata nei cerchi, la capitana santoni... sono passati 13 ma ancora mi vengono i brividi ogni volta che lo guardo...nulla da fare!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏

Wonderful and dramatic music for a dramatic and mind-blowing routine. The Italian team had to have been on the 2008 Olympic podium, but unfortunately the corruption that characterizes this type of event prevented it. It is inadmissible as this team was in fourth position, while a team that was barely reaching its artistic and technical quality was forced by favors and unofficial aid in the position of silver medalists. Thank God, Chinese Taipei has no team, otherwise the Belarusians would have been the immediate victims.
