Ironic that John died of cancer due to his chain smoking.

Its eerily prophetic this part he played.

He would have been a real superstar had he lived.

He's like James Dean. Made a handful of unforgettable masterpieces and then died!

0:47 ‘the body is the temple of the lord.’ I love that quote so much.

He left 43 years ago today and left a big hole cinema. He made only 5 films, , oh what films they were! God Father 1 and 2. Dog Day Afternoon. The Conversation and The Deer Hunter. He made all his fellow actors look good and was not afraid to play weak and helpless. You watch him, not the others. Thank you John Cazale for the pleasure of your company and 5 films you left behind.

It's his subtle acting that makes him easily one of the best actors - ever! There is a scene at the beginning of 'The Godfather' where Michael introduces Fredo to Kay - and how John plays a drunk Fredo just blow my mind. Stunning.

It's what l mostly kept from this movie.. I remember the first time l saw it, musta been 18, l was mesmerised by this guy's face, l mean l considered his face to be very peculiar for a movie star, l mean he was not an extra, he was very much in most scenes, his gaze and intensity of his eyes. Al's performance was great, but this guy was what l remembered most.

Cazale doesn't have to act amazingly every single scene, in a handful of scenes like in Godfather films and this movie shows how great of an actor he was.

That was Penelope Allen, John's scene partner. Terrific actress and acting teacher, RIP.

It's so obvious why many of the great actors of the '70s looked up to John Cazale -- he mastered his craft.

Underrated actor. I've been in 7 commercials, 2 movies, and over 200 plays.... he's top notch

“Subtlety” summarizes the greatness of the 70s in American culture. The best art that came from that decade was subtle, in film or otherwise. As a nation, we haven’t even come close to reaching that since. A grave pity, because the country has layered on hypocrisy so thickly since then that subtlety is called for now more than ever.

John Cazale & Daniel day Lewis are my 2 favorite actors
John was such a brilliant actor, it’s bitter sweet he was only in a handful of movies, if he was in more though I think more people would know of his incredible screen presence

When I saw this movie for the first time I must have been in my early teens. I was fascinated by Sal. The eyes and his hairline, I could feel the psychopath in him. To be honest he scared the shit out of me. What a talent, unbelievable.
