Just leaving my thought here for some other people who are trying to improvise using every inch of these chords, I'm using A dorian, C diminished (or altered), E phrygian and E altered... then (at the last 4 chords) A dorian, F lydian, F lydian again, and E altered.
it seems to be working fine by me!
