*EPISODE 44: No Thanks For Gamers* features an absolute gem by Michael Schacht. Originally published in 2002 as a small box filler game, this 2015 Rio Grande edition is one of the greatest board games for bidding, stock market, and multi-use cards in under 1 hour. It takes the "No Thanks" bidding system and makes a bigger game out of it. This is a very subtle type of game where you have to pace yourself to do well, but the more you play, the better you get at timing your actions and knowing when to bid high or bow out of the auction. It's a player-driven game with great interactive decisions, and I highly recommend this one!!!
.

*RULES CLARIFICATIONS:* I forgot to mention if you choose the alternate action of placing a depot but you're already out of depots, you can instead _move_ a depot that you've already placed and put it into that new color. This is rare, but sometimes a small scoring opportunity will open up where it makes sense to do that.

According to one commenter below, certain printings of this game DO have player screens (& loan cards to signify when you take those extra 3 chips). ???? I have not been able to confirm this, but that commenter @YakovPetrovich says they had a new sealed edition which included all that stuff. My edition did not have those components and I don’t see anything on BGG about it. 🤔🤔🤔

I love the idea behind this channel. I'm beyond tired of every board game channel being nothing but the "new hotness" and Kickstarters that won't be released for another two years.

One of your best episodes ever! I feel like I could sit down and play the game right now without even looking at the rulebook. And on top of that you managed to convince me that I to find this game. It’s right up my alley with the types of games we play. Our group loves auction games like Ra, For Sale, Modern Art, and Biblios. After watching this I’m confident Mogul would be a smash hit. Excellent presentation! Thank you for introducing me to this one!

Fantastic episode UDG! Great suggestions about the color blindness friendly components, publishers should really do this. Hopefully I can find a copy of this sounds! Really sounds like right up my alley! 👏😺

You have me searching for so many games. I am picking up this game this weekend at my VFM, and plan on playing it after. I am using your teach to teach - flashcards of notes ready!
Thank you for your amazing videos!!

I use Othello chips (black side) to indicate when a player has passed. A black cube can also be taken when a player cashes in three points for bidding chips.

Finally! One I have. SUSD also once raved about Mogul. Surely that missing 0.1 could be overcome by the fact that in the wooden bowl, this game contains the most stupid/ best component of all time? I'd also like to echo the comment that said this was a great episode. Just a great teach. I loved the way you expressed the squared points system better than the rule book

Ooooo finally a stock game that looks fun to me! Hubby always wants me to play stock games and I don’t usually like em but this looks like one I would enjoy! Just wish it played 2 player! I still might try to find a copy for our group. It seems like it would be a hit with everyone we know. Have you had luck getting non-gamers to play this? Thanks for another wonderful episode 🤩

Great video again! I have possessed the German 2002 version of that game and was not convinced due to design flaws that made the game - for me - almost unplayable and more pain than fun. This version looks better. So my advice: Stay away from the 2002 edition by "Spiele aus Timbuktu" or the Japanese version from "GameField" which looks similar. But Michael Schacht? Really a good designer!
