36-Year Reunion - Vietnamese Boat People Experience

Sacramento, California | June 27, 2015 ----- Mr. Huy Le, left, and I are former Vietnamese boat people. We stayed at the same Buton refugee camp in Indonesia in the summer of 1979. An Angel ship named “Akuna” rescued my boat from pirates in April and Huy’s boat in May of that year in the Gulf of Thailand.

Three decades later, we become husbands and fathers, living the American dream with our lovely families. Huy's home is in Orlando, Florida, and my home is in Sacramento County, California.

BACKGROUND SOUNDTRACK: "With a Little Luck" - London Town, by Wings. (I couldn't believe at the end of the editing work on my iPhone 6 Plus, while taking a screenshot of this song on iTune app, I noticed the similarity of the London Bridge to our Sacramento's (twin) Tower Bridge in our photos. This made me smile :)

Hội ngộ gặp lại anh Huy Lê sau 36 năm. Tôi và anh Huy là thuyền nhân tỵ nạn cùng ở chung trại Buton tại Indonesia mùa hè năm 1979. Con tàu thủy “Akuna” đã cứu vớt thuyền của tôi từ hải tặc trong tháng 4 và cứu vớt thuyền của anh Huy trong tháng 5 năm ấy trên Vịnh Thái Lan.

Ba thập niên sau, anh Huy và tôi đã lập gia đình, cả hai là một người chồng và một người cha. Gia đình anh Huy đang định cư tại thành phố Orlando, bang Florida của vùng biển miền đông nam, còn gia đình tôi định cư thủ đô Sacramento của bang California thuộc miền tây nước Mỹ.

Also look up the movie "A Chance to Live" it was my idea to make that movie to help the boat people and to support the AKUNA to keep it running But that's a long sad story....You can find the movie on YOUTUBE

Chao chu, gia dinh con cung di vuot bien. Nam nay con 20 muoi tuoi. I would like to learn a lot more about what happened during this time. It fascinates me that my mother and father went through this kind of hardship. When you have time or if you could answer some of my questions that'll be great. - Justin

Bye the way if you like to pay homage to the man who saved many lives you can  look his burial site up on line, he was buried in Sacramento
