Here in the Philippines, there is a variety of fruit we call Marang which is like the cross between Durian and Jackfruit. It is also smelly and taste a bit like durian but the peal is similar to jackfruit.

I have never tried durian but jackfruit is my all time favourite fruit in the world, it can be hit and miss sometimes however purchasing in the UK, but when we get a good one, damn it’s real good.

Both of them are yummy. But i prefer Durian to Jackfruit because Durian is creamy, taste like the combination of milk and vanilla cream with unique smell that can’t describe by words

Jackfruit is kinder to humans. In times of famine and drought, it sustains/nourish populations. It is a vegetable when green,
a fruit when ripe. Durian doesn't have that
versatility. Has anybody eaten jackfruit as a vegetable? Delicious in any way it is cooked, limited only by the imagination of the cook. Substitute for meat, a favorite item by vegans because it provides complete nourishment .I love it as curry,
salad, stew with any meat or seafood/fish
simmered slowly in coconut milk till the oil
surfaces, seasoned with fish sauce, add dried fish flakes for additional protein . As filling for egg rolls or "meat " pies, "meat" balls, mix in scrambled eggs and onions .
As topping for pizza. Myriads of applications. Then the fruit is just as generous in its uses, eaten as is, in cakes
ice cream, puddings, fruit salad, smoothies, jello, candies, dried fruit, mixed
in a dessert soup of tubers as flavoring
instead of vanilla, etc . To me jackfruit is the winner against durian.
Let us look at the pro-argument for durian .
