The way to figure out which of the two options were used, was just to see what rank they were before you kicked them.
I run the Trove and Friends club & I feel for ya, running a club is tough when it comes to having to promote officers. That trust is killer.

that's always something you have to expect and prepare for when you promote anyone because even your closest friend could one day quit and destroy the club. I would prefer to do all the work and everything myself than trust people with my club.
