Is it easier than becoming a doctor or lawyer? Yes. You can learn by yourself, don't even need university studies.
Is it harder than becoming a cop or a clerk? Yes. It is a highly mentally demanding and straining profession.
You also need to enjoy technical computer stuff, enjoy working on the computer 8-10 hours a day and enjoy solving problems, it's a constant problem-solving environment which can make you hate your life sometimes.
So if you don't enjoy the things from above and you're just getting into it for the money, I highly suggest against it, you will hate your job and most likely eventually quit. There are a lot more easier jobs and which can bring you a lot more cash than IT.
