The Science of Deduction - 7 Techniques to Deduce like Sherlock Holmes

You will learn about the science of deduction and 7 of the best techniques Sherlock Holmes uses personally in his strategy to make deductions. Deductive reasoning is a skill that requires many hours of practice to perform without cognitive thinking, so don't give up upon your first few tries. The first tip is to observe their demeanor, and this is especially important because you can rule out ideas if you know a person's general habits. The second tip is to use the process of elimination by the data you have gathered from the initial observations. After watching this video, you will understand the importance of visualizing and verbalizing as well, which are supremely important upon cultivating your deduction skills and methods. Any good detective and mentalist know these 7 great tips and will follow them daily, and eventually they become second nature habits that are automatically followed subconsciously. Deduction is the art of reasoning backwards, determining a cause from an observable effect. In doing this however, there are a lot of variables that come into play, and many times we have to establish something basic to determine something more complex. This video is referring to both the BBC Sherlock Holmes played by Benedict Cumberbatch as well as the movies in which Robert Downey Jr. played.

I hope you guys enjoy this new style, which is specifically for auditory learners and to put on as background music while performing a secondary task to increase the value of the task with learning.

I just want to inform everyone that the style that this video is in is entirely my fault. I was the one who wrote the script for this video, and I have a tendency to write longer scripts, as a result, PP wasn't able to put together a normal style video; seeing as though the videos that he makes are typically much shorter there is no need to worry that this style will become the norm for his channel.
Now, for those of you can't sit through a 12 minute long video that has minimal visuals, because you need something constantly moving to keep your attention, you obviously aren't interested in the topic enough as you aren't willing to put just a little bit of effort into learning about it when you are pushed outside your comfort zone. In which case my channel isn't the place for you, because while I put a lot of work to make my videos good and entertaining, all the concepts I teach take hard work and dedication to perfect. That being said, I know that most of you commenting about the editing style are doing so simply to give helpful feed back, all the same I know that there are others who are simply complaining, I just wanted to clarify some things.

The process of elimination is actually useful even though I'm not good in deducing. My mom taught me that when I'm having a hard time answering a multiple choice test at school I can use the process of elimination. Somehow it works!

I was thinking. Do you want me to make small Sherlock tip videos every couple of weeks? A bit like the ones I am doing now???

Fascinating- this brushed me up on things I already do; when they're defined, they're easier to attain as tools in the future. I'll find myself learning more about deduction in the future.

Something I find most curious is that, usually when I think about how something is gonna go, I consider just about every likely possibility, and it always goes differently than anything I anticipate, unless it's a very narrowed down event, without much room for difference.

When I looked at the thumbnail, I thought it said “seduce like Sherlock”.

I was always good at memorization and remembering things I was told in school, but I never really thought of myself as a free thinker because of that. I have a tough time making my own conclusions. I think it’s partly because I lack self confidence sometimes and am afraid to sound dumb. I’m trying to get better at that but it’s hard. Often times when a teacher would ask a question and no one would answer, I’d have an idea in my head but not say anything for fear of being wrong. I’ve gotta work on that and this video helps by giving me strategies to feel more confident in myself to make my own conclusions. Well done

Hey :) Thanks so much for that shoutout! Also, even though the video style was more stripped down than usual. Looking at it from a content creator's point of view, I know it had to have been a relief to make it in this style. That being said, the original style that you usually make videos in is more visually stimulating and more popular! As for the video content, even though there weren't visual animations to help the words come to life, all the points were very solid. I know that The Art of Deduction puts in his hours of study to get this stuff right, so anyone watching the video is going to learn quality stuff. Thank you both for the video. I liked it a lot!
