Today's video is all about the products you think you need but don't. Hopefully it's a nice reminder that it's easy to get sucked into beauty marketing and influencers, but we really don't *need* a lot. Big thanks to Julianna’s Perfume for sponsoring this video!

This video is getting more views than I anticipated so I wanted to clarify a few comments! I’m not stating these as fact, these are just based on my experience and opinions. Everyone has different products they feel are unnecessary. 😊

I'm with you that vitamins and supplements can be very helpful and often necessary. My point was to highlight the lack of regulation that causes consumers to fall for marketing ploys, leading to overspending or even an excess of certain ingredients. I take vitamins and supplements so I am definitely not knocking them. I just think we should consume these trendy supplements thoughtfully and consciously.

On eye creams: I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy them or that they aren’t effective, but that a lot of the time they’re just the same formula as a face cream, marked up at a higher price per oz. There are obviously exceptions to this!

Few things in life are black and white / good or bad, my intention in this video was to highlight that a lot of products *can be* unnecessary and we should spend our money consciously.

I will point out as exceptions to some of these rules:
- eye creams are unnecessary, yes, but some people see benefit from the ones that have caffeine (not found in face creams) and/or a brightening tint to them. People with dark circles and/or bags under their eyes can see a noticeable difference. My mother is an elementary teacher, and if she has a day she forgets her brightening eye cream with caffeine (which has a firming effect), her students notice and ask if she is sick. But if the eye cream you’re looking at does not have these things, it’s not worth buying. And NEVER spend money on a luxury one. If you’re spending more than $40 on eye cream you’re getting scammed.
- tinted brow gels are fine and actually the easiest product for some of us to use. You don’t get mascara unevenly glopped around as she describes, eyebrows shouldn’t be different. Gels are fast, easy, and CAN be used to shape the hairs. They also have a staying power no pencil or pomade does as they not only glue the hairs in place but the color is locked in too and resists swiping away with sweat. I think she just doesn’t really know how to use them.

I have shaved my legs with my bath soap for about 50 years. No other product needed.

It’s so weird thinking “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and then “oh! But there could be something better out there”. It’s an awful cycle! Thanks for keeping it real ❤

also, dermatologists have said that lip scrubs actually harm your lips because it irritates their only layer of skin!

Another thing we don’t need is bronzing drops!! Especially when most people who are into makeup probably already have a foundation in a darker shade, a highlighting primer, a liquid bronzer or just any bronzer that can do a very similar job! I see lots of creators who look like they’re having to incorporate bronzing drops into their routine when it’s clear they don’t really have a use for them

I'm so tired of hearing the words "I'm obsessed" regarding products. Thanks for your intro. Takes the pressure off a bit to not think you have to buy what everyone else claims to be "life changing and that it's okay to use what you already have that works . I only subscribe to a handful of channels now and yours is one of them!

I agree with most of your comments but I’m in my 70s and have graying eyebrows that I dye a soft taupe color. Not all my brow hairs return to gray at same time so I rely on colored brow get to coat those. I apply lightly with the brow gel wand and then use a separate clean wand to spread it and keep it from clumping.

i enjoy a tinted brow gel, designer fragrances, shaving foam and some single ingredient serums. i think almost all things can work for some people, but these aren’t really necessary for everyone.

i also love a brow pencil for precision, a perfume dupe and skincare that packs more of a punch. it’s all about experimentation and not falling for the hype influencers try to get us to.

Thank you for your comments about cellulite and stretch marks, which are completely NORMAL things. Let’s normalize being normal.

If you have blonde eyebrows, tined eyebrow gel is most definitely the place to start. Using only pencil on blonde eyebrows looks ridiculous in daylight and in flash photographs (which you don't realise in the makeup mirror), since they mostly colour the skin underneath. Either that or dye them if you want your eyebrows more pronounced.

I honestly don’t buy any of these products for the reasons you mentioned. Gladly, I don’t feel pressured by social media to buy skincare or makeup products anymore. I just know very well what works for me, and I can typically tell if the product is for me or not. Great video though!

Disposable sheet masks and eye masks!! So much WASTE 😭 and you could literally buy a giant tub of product that will last weeks and it won’t be slimy and drippy and difficult to use. I never comment because it’s usually just a black hole but I feel so strongly 😂 & THANK YOU for all your research and integrity/honestly. You are a breath of fresh air on this platform. ❤

Yes, I do disagree about expensive perfume lol. Are there many instances when the quality doesn't justify the price? Of course. And if perfume isn't something someone wants to or is able to spend a lot of money on, I understand that as well. But perfume in general is a luxury good, and perfumery an artform that requires extensive knowledge, skill, and creativity. We don't tend to think of it as art and it's taken for granted because it's a widely used commodity, but it's not unlike fine art or haute couture. For people who wear perfume to appreciate the artform and not only to smell good, expensive perfume can be very worth it! Not to mention, many of these less expensive houses are trying to dupe higher end fragrances, in some ways stealing from the original artists. They're the "fast fashion" of perfume houses.

Love to see someone is actually saying practical things unlike other influencers!
Thanks ☺️

Great video! I don’t agree with all of these *for myself* but it’s a valuable reminder that just because a product category exists doesn’t mean we have to buy/use it.
