Centre appeals to farmers to name representatives for the MSP committee

The Centre has asked protesting farmers to suggest five names to be part of the MSP (Minimum Support Price) committee. MSP is a form of market intervention by the Government of India to ensure farmers against any sharp fall in farm prices. The Samkyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) confirmed that the government has sought five names from the main body of protesting farmers. The SKM is the body that has protested against the three farm laws since 2020. Reportedly, the farmer leader Darshan Pal said that the laws have been withdrawn but there are cases against farmers.
