It seems to me difficult to argue that Daniel isn't referring to Greece and Alexander. The passage does everything but call him by name. As for Greece not existing at that time, it's a prophecy, current knowledge of the place as classical Greece isn't necessary.

Letter to the church at pegamum states twice that satans throne is there (modern day turkey). Interesting

My man you are describing Erdogan. He started small, he was promoting so called moderate Islam, making people believe that he wanted Turkey to join EU, and that is how he became bigger and bigger and his policies were delivering wealth to Turkish people so they trusted him and looked the other way when there was so many indications that he was full blown islamist looking for a regime change (taking down Turkey's secular system).

Also the prominent horn may be an allusion to this the abbasids literally formed a large horn or spear formation check it out sounds just like the scene described in prophecy, and it's very well documented here it is.. ((btw you can find this in wiki by searching for battle of the great zab river))The Abbasid army formed a spear wall, a tactic they had adopted from their Syrian opponents, presumably from witnessing it in earlier battles. This entailed standing in a battle line with their lances pointed at the enemy (similar to the stakes used by English longbowmen at Agincourt and Crécy many centuries later). The Umayyad cavalry charged, possibly believing that with their experience they could break the spear wall. This was a mistake on their part, however, and they were all but butchered. The Umayyad army fell into retreat, its morale finally shattered. Many were cut down by the zealous Abbasids or were drowned in the wintertime River Zab.

Hey Joel! Ok, so after watching your teaching on Daniel 8 I did a little digging as the wealth of different interpretations had me a little confused as to who had the best understanding. I began also to wonder whether it was still future or had been fulfilled in the past. I am now of the solid opinion that it is past, please review my evidence before disregarding this post! And I did listen to your reasons why you believe you believe it to be yet future, so please hear me out and give this a thorough review, Ok so the ram with two horns one bigger than the other that goes in every direction but east is the umayyad caliphate and the male goat with one horn is the Abbasid caliphate. That instead of going west like it's predecessor goes eastward, and in it's beginning it was ruled by one caliph and in it's end was made up of many horns.. It fits perfectly I assure you even the location where Daniel received the vision by the great river ulai, it correlates to the great zab river in which a great battle took place!

Abbasid caliphate

The name is derived from that of the uncle of the Prophet Muḥammad, al-ʿAbbās (died c. 653), of the Hāshimite clan of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca. From c. 718, members of his family worked to gain control of the empire, and by skillful propaganda won much support, especially from Shīʿī Arabs and Persians in Khorāsān. Open revolt in 747, ( Important!)>>> under the leadership of Abū Muslim, led to the defeat of Marwān II, the last Umayyad caliph, at the Battle of the Great Zāb River <<< (750) in Mesopotamia and to the proclamation of the first ʿAbbāsid caliph, Abū al-ʿAbbās as-Saffāḥ.

(Important!)>>>Under the ʿAbbāsids the caliphate entered a new phase. Instead of focussing, as the Umayyads had done, on the West—on North Africa, the Mediterranean, and southern Europe—the caliphate now turned eastward.<<< (Looking at map of both Caliphates helps to understand) The capital was moved to the new city of Baghdad, and events in Persia and Transoxania were closely watched. For the first time the caliphate was not coterminous with Islām; ((split into 4)) in Egypt, North Africa, Spain, and elsewhere, local dynasties claimed caliphal status. With the rise of the ʿAbbāsids the base for influence in the empire became international, emphasizing membership in the community of believers rather than Arab nationality. Since much support for the ʿAbbāsids came from Persian converts, it was natural for the ʿAbbāsids to take over much of the Persian (Sāsānian) tradition of government. Support by pious Muslims likewise led the ʿAbbāsids to acknowledge publicly the embryonic Islāmic law and to profess to base their rule on the religion of Islām. Between 750 and 833 the ʿAbbāsids raised the prestige and power of the empire, promoting commerce, industry, arts, and science, particularly during the reigns of al-Manṣūr, Hārūn ar-Rashīd, and al-Maʾmūn. Their temporal power, however, began to decline when al-Muʿtaṣim introduced non-Muslim Berber, Slav, and especially Turkish mercenary forces into his personal army. Although these troops were converted to Islām, the base of imperial unity through religion was gone, and some of the new army officers quickly learned to control the caliphate through assassination of any caliph who would not accede to their demands.

I am not sure Erdogan lines up with much of the criteria either. He is not an Assyrian. ?

Is there a BIGGER insult than labeling someone THE ANTI-CHRIST? The most vile, sinful, degenerate human ever to walk on the planet????
Not saying we shouldn't be watchful, but we must be SOBER minded.
I echo Joel's sentiments on this matter.

I enjoyed this after listening to you on The Forge on Khouse.org and 2 Strategic Perspectives. Looking forward to learning more from you. I missed the name of your first book you published on line. I thought I found it but it had a different author's name on it. Could you please tell me the name or even a link to it please. I am very interested in your ministry and will be keeping you and yours in prayers. God bless you, your family, and ministry.

Joel enjoyed your video your humble which is great your searching learned a lot from you.I have been studying for years too. This is my opinion Daniel with revelation it is a puzzle within a puzzle.I noticed Daniel 2:39.Adding the animals and statues Seven heads equals the last head Roman empire.Lion bear 4 headed leopard and last beast.10 horns 10 toes10 kings. To me in revelation 17:9 is separate from verse 10.verse nine ends with the Roman empire representing rome, verse 10 starts with Egypt 5 have fallen Grecian empire 1 is is Roman empire.I believe verse 11 to me means the Roman empire took over the Grecian empire the Grecian empire then was goes with revelation 13:3 pretty well 1out of the 4 regions out of Grecian empire but all of it was ta.ken over by Rome so Grecian empire was engulfed into the Roman empire so in a sense the 4 headed Grecian section is engulfed I to the Roman empire its no more but in the future.Notice in verse 11 it is an 8th ruled as 1 of the 7, which 1 of the 7 Daniel tells you which one the seleucid section one of the seven Daniel 8 practically tells you which totally matches revelation 13:3.So this 1 head was of the 7 in a sense does not exist now but in future tome wounded do death. The future this seleucid section comes back to life was is not, 1of the 7 so on is the seleucid kingdom being dead but comes to life in the future narrowing down to Daniel 8:9 its the northwestern section turkey and Syria it seems. What I get has a puzzle within a puzzle its a revived Roman empire Europe and middle east but the 10 toes ten horns ten kings but within all this the Grecian section rules over it.Who am I a nobody but somebody by my Father and his son.Again thanks for your teaching
